The Seattle Seahawks Shouldn't Re-sign LB Leroy Hill

Another off-season and another arrest for Seattle Seahawks LB Leroy Hill. He was arrested on investigation of unlawful imprisonment-domestic violence and third-degree assault-domestic violence according to ESPN. Hill allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and did not let her leave the house.

Hill should not be retained no matter what happens with the case. He has had a troubled past including an arrest for marijuana last off-season. The charges for that particular case were dismissed. He had another one in 2009, but wasn’t so lucky and received a 12 month probation sentence. In 2010, he was arrested on a fourth-degree assault-domestic violence charge.

The Seahawks can’t have a player like him on the their team; he makes everybody look bad. The team is aware of the situation, but I think they already made up their minds about what they are going to do with Hill. He is a good linebacker and other NFL teams are going to be excited to get him at a discounted price. Hill has not had a lot of injuries in his career and has not even missed 10 games in his eight seasons. Marcus Trufant and Hill are the only players left on the team from their Super Bowl run and Trufant is old enough where he may only have one season left in him if he can even make the team.

The arrests for Hill are very troubling for a NFL player. He obviously has an anger problem and needs some help. It’s hard to turn your back on someone who has done so much on the field for the franchise, but sometimes you just have to show a little “tough love”.
