At the beginning of the 2012 season, Reggie Bush appeared to be on his way to a big season with the Miami Dolphins as he recorded 241 rushing yards and two touchdowns over the team’s first two games. Unfortunately, everything seemed to go down from there as he only broke the 100-yard rushing mark once for the rest of the season.
With this in mind, it’s no surprise one of the top NFL rumors this week involves the chances of Bush and the Dolphins parting ways.
One of the main reasons why Bush’s production was down this season involved the fact that he lost carries to Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller–two up-and-coming running backs that seem like a much better fit than Bush. Plus, there’s a good chance they would come at a cheaper price–so it seems like a no brainer for Miami’s end.
If the two sides do end up parting ways, it would be interesting to see if any other teams expressed interest in Bush considering the Dolphins seemed to be the right fit for him. Bush never seemed to fit in at the beginning of the year when he was a member of the New Orleans Saints as he struggled to perform at the same dominant level as college, but the debate is still up for whether or not he’s even worthy of being considered an effective running back in the NFL.
Only time will tell, but Bush is running out of time considering he’s already 28-years-old and it’s no secret how much shorter running backs careers are compared to other players at different positions.
