If I were to tell you that the Denver Broncos deserve to be in the Super Bowl right now, you would think I was crazy. Well, I don’t believe that at all so you can spare your name-calling. The way they finished the game against the Baltimore Ravens showed that they weren’t ready to be a Super Bowl team.
The Broncos won more playoff games with Tim Tebow at quarterback than they did with Peyton Manning– take that in for a second.
Tebow, the quarterback that may not be in the NFL after this season, was more successful with this Broncos team in the postseason than Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.
I know it’s such a small sample size, but the fact that the Broncos had the NFL’s best record and made the playoffs with a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs just showed that they weren’t ready for the big stage– yet.
How long will it take Denver to be ready to be on the big stage? Well if the 2012-13 season was any indication, it will happen next season.
In my opinion, the Broncos were the best team in the NFL and their record showed the same. They were a top-five defensive team and a top-10 offensive team. With Manning engineering the offense, they are easily Super Bowl favorites in 2013-14.
The fact that he went into a new offensive system and basically learned it to perfection, leading the team to a 13-3 record after sitting out an entire season with an injury just goes to show what kind of player Manning is. I would be shocked if he didn’t win the MVP award.
The 2013 season will prove to be the season that Denver puts everything together and makes a Super Bowl run for the first time since John Elway was leading them to a title in 1998.
Next year will be the year that Denver overcomes the lack of clutch play and Peyton Manning will be the reason they make it to Super Bowl XLVIII.
