NFL Rumors: Greg Jennings to join Miami Dolphins?

Earlier this week, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings put his Wisconsin home up for sale, leading many to believe that his time with the Cheeseheads has already come to a close. The only question at this point is which team will successfully court him once he hits the open market?

Apparently, one of the teams on the list of potential suitors is the Miami Dolphins. On top of desperately needing some help in the passing game, the Dolphins are coached by Joe Philbin, who has a significant history with Jennings dating back to his days as an offensive coordinator with the Packers.

“Joe, how you doing? Remember me,” Jennings said on the Dolphins’ team-owned Internet show. “He’s one of my favorite coaches. Obviously he jokes a lot, little subtle things here and there, but he’s a great coach to have. He was a great coach to play for. He’s one of those guys that you can have a relationship outside of football. As a player, you admire a coach when he actually opens himself up like that.”

If Jennings were to make the trip to South Beach, he’d likely fill in from Day 1 as their No. 1 receiver. Only boasting the talents of Brian Hartline, Davone Bess and a handful of unproven youngsters, the Dolphins could greatly benefit from adding a player like Jennings to their passing attack. Not to mention his playmaking abilities and receiving prowess would expedite the development of quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

“I’ve prepared my family for change,” Jennings added. “Wherever I end up, if it’s outside of Green Bay, we’re ready to be great wherever we go.”

By the sound of it, Jennings has already mentally checked out of Green Bay. Whether or not his family and he land in Miami, though, is still to be determined. Regardless of where he ends up, there’s a good change that Jennings will make an instant impact and become a staple in some other team’s offensive gameplan.

Tannehill better be hoping that Philbin’s relationship with the soon-to-be former Packers wide receiver is enough to coax him into a reunion.
