Before everyone, especially fans of the Denver Broncos, settles in for the Super Bowl, it’s never too early to look forward. As usual on Super Sunday, Las Vegas has released the odds for next season and the Broncos are the favorite to win Super Bowl XLVIII. The Broncos are listed as the 5-1 favorite, followed by the San Francisco 49ers at 7-1. The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens are also among the favorites.

That may be a surprise to some, but I’ve been saying since the day that Peyton Manning signed with the Broncos that next season would be the one to point to, Vegas obviously agrees. There are a number of reasons that the Broncos are the early favorite including; they were the best team going into the playoffs this season, Manning will be in his second season, the core of the team returns and they have salary cap room to make moves.

Being the favorite at this point means very little except for this, it means that the Broncos are expected to be a very good team by people who make a living at this stuff. There’s a long way to go between now and next February and the Broncos do have work to do, but this should offer some comfort to Bronco fans as they watch a game that feel their team should be playing in.

If the Broncos have a solid offseason including; being smart in free agency and another good draft then they have a good chance to be playing at this time next year. It’s not just me saying that, Las Vegas is betting on it and they don’t build all of those hotels because they are wrong.
