In the past 10-15 years there’s been a shift in America’s favorite sport, deny it all you want but it’s a fact. Baseball is no longer America’s Pastime, not anymore, it’s been surpassed by football, and the NFL reigns supreme. Cry about all you want baseball fans but it’s the truth, and it’s not even close.

The television ratings have made it abundantly clear that football is king, no matter how many times a week its on and now we’ve got a professional sports icon telling us that the NFL is the King of Sports. Miami Heat superstar LeBron James recently told the South Florida Sun Sentinel his feelings to prove the NFL rules the sporting world when he said he would risk missing a game to watch his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, play in the Super Bowl.

James also made it known he was unhappy about playing a basketball game on Super Bowl Sunday and that he was upset over missing part of the game. LeBron and the Heat played the Toronto Raptors in Toronto yesterday and their team plane apparently doesn’t have television or wi-fi access, which is just absurd in this day and age.

There you have it folks, a superstar athlete is willing to miss a game to watch the Super Bowl. That’s a statement that should tell you everything you need to know about the how popular the NFL. It’s a shocking admission and it should put to rest what sport American’s love the most.

Pretty soon we’re going to be saying it’s as American as football and buffalo wings! Maybe not, but the NFL is definitely king.
