Who Should Baltimore Ravens Play To Start 2013 Season?

With the 2012 National Football League season behind us after the Baltimore Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII, it is time to think ahead to the 2013 regular season opener and who the Ravens will play on that Thursday night. There are several interesting choices that could be made to start excitement right away for the season. I think the most logical choice though would be a matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That rivalry has been one to really watch over the past number of years and a hard-nosed battle like that right away to start the year would be ideal. It is also possible the opponent could be the New England Patriots in a rematch of the AFC Championship game. If that is what the NFL wants to do to get the season underway that is fine with me but just doesn’t seem perfect. Baltimore also plays the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans at home in 2013 so I guess any of those could be the opponent but I sense that the NFL likes either rematches or divisional matchups for that opening night game.

I vote right now for Pittsburgh being the team to start the 2013 season in Baltimore. I would love to see a battle right away between Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco on a night where the Ravens are putting up banners and handing out Super Bowl rings. It will be only two months or so until we find out what the matchup will be so it’s not a long wait but I really hope it will be Steelers-Ravens.
