Prior to the 2012 NFL season, everybody knew the Seattle Seahawks would have one of the top defenses in the league, but nobody could have predicted them to put together the type of playoff run that they did–especially with rookie Russell Wilson starting at quarterback. The Seahawks were nearly on the verge of playing in the NFC Championship after falling to the Atlanta Falcons at the last second of the Divisional Round and now the main question that everybody wants to know–does this team have what it takes to get to the Super Bowl next year?
The fact that Wilson has one year of experience under his belt will be huge for Seattle moving forward as the rookie seems like the type of player that is only going to get better and better each season and considering how close they were to reaching the NFC Championship last month–that’s only going to motivate them even more heading into 2013. There were times during the 2012 season when Seattle’s defense looked nearly impossible to contain at times and they’ve proven to be able to compete with some of the best teams in the league last season.
Of course, if the Seahawks do have what it takes to reach the Super Bowl next season, it certainly won’t be easy considering the San Francisco 49ers are expected to come back and stronger than ever after falling a few yards short of defeating the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday.
