Tennessee Titans Make Bad Move Hiring Gregg Williams

Gregg Williams got his wish on Thursday when the NFL  lifted his indefinite suspension. Williams immediately signed with the Tennessee Titans to be an assistant for the team. This could be a horrible decision by the Titans to jump all over Williams right after his suspension ended.

Williams was in Tennessee a decade ago as the team’s defensive coordinator, but after the whole bounty scandal, I’m shocked that any team would want to make a chance on Williams. This is a move that could easily blow up in Tennessee’s face if Williams were to do something similar again. Williams is a great defensive coach but he is like a poison at this point. Who knows if Williams wouldn’t start another pay-for-play scheme? Anything is possible but this is not a move I would have made if I were running the Titans.

Tennessee already has enough turmoil going on in trying to get back into being a playoff contender. Williams is a great defensive mind and could help move the process along helping on defense but I just don’t trust him at this point. I wouldn’t touch Williams with a ten-foot pole and that’s saying something for a coach that helped in a Super Bowl championship for the New Orleans Saints. That job though has cost Williams an entire year now so who has any idea what Williams is presently thinking. Tennessee could easily come back and regret this decision as soon as the beginning of the 2013 season.
