Denver Mayor Michael Hancock says the the city of Denver has made a bid to host a Super Bowl between the years of 2018-2020.

My question is this: will the Denver Broncos still be an elite team in six to eight years in order to have a shot at playing in the Super Bowl at home, if indeed Denver does get the opportunity to host a Super Bowl?

My answer would be yes, if they can keep the very talented core of young players and build upon what they already have.

If they can keep players such as: QB Brock Osweiler, RB Ronnie Hillman, WRs Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, OT Ryan Clady, DL Derek Wolfe, DE/OLB Elvis Dumervil, OLB Von Miller, OLB Wesley Woodyard, CB Chris Harris and S Rahim Moore and add a few players along the way to fill in a couple missing spots, then this team could be in their prime in the years from 2018-2020.

Most of these guys would only be 28-30 years old between the years of 2018-2020 and at that age, most players have reached their max potential and haven’t started to decline. It’s that perfect time when a seasoned veteran still has enough in his tank to play at a very high level.

The major spots that will need to be replaced would be QB Peyton Manning and DB Champ Bailey.

If the Broncos can get Osweiler to be an elite quarterback or if they can bring in an elite QB and keep the core they already have, Denver will be very competitive for a long time.

I’m going to make a wild prediction that the Broncos will host a Super Bowl that they also play in between the years 2018-2020.
