Colin Kaepernick’s New Tattoos Have Great Meaning
Kids do weird things and that’s what San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is–a kid. He’s an extremely athletic and talented kid who happens to play in the NFL, but he’s still a kid. That showed during his team’s Super Bowl loss to the Baltimore Ravens as well as the fact he’s going to be a star in this league for a long time to come, especially with the coaching of a guy like Jim Harbaugh. Kaepernick’s latest move, which includes new tattoos, has many unsure what to think about him at this point.
Did he get the tattoos because he was upset? Or is it a sign? A newspaper in San Francisco suggests the latter.
When Kaepernick posted the picture above of his ink on the web, his tattoo artist, Orly Lacquiao, says the tattoos represent “inner strength, spiritual growth and humility.” Those are three important aspects for Kaepernick to grow as an NFL quarterback with only 10 starts under his belt, including the Super Bowl.
Right now, he’s extremely talented but still pretty raw. He can run like the wind, but doesn’t use his legs in the way he should all the time. That will continue to improve just as it did throughout the playoffs, but he’s not there yet. This new chest art suggests that he’s at least aware of that and working on it. There’s only one way to find out how it will affect his game.
