Carson Palmer Not the Issue For Oakland Raiders

Oakland Raiders fans have every reason to be upset because the franchise hasn’t had a winning season sine 2002. Ten years of dreadful play can make even the most faithful fan irate, but the blame shouldn’t rest on Carson Palmer‘s shoulders.

Fans are still upset that they gave up so much to get Palmer. However, they don’t realize that if the Raiders got their defense together, they wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place.

Last season was definitely one of Palmer’s best NFL seasons as he threw for over 4,000 yards for the first time since 2007. He also notched 22 touchdowns rebounding from just 13 in 2011. At 33 years old, you know what to expect from him as he has been there and done that in terms of NFL experience. Now, if the Raiders could get a few good drafts in the coming seasons, they can salvage the latter part of Palmer’s career.

Addressing the wideout position is something that needs to get done as the Raiders haven’t had a 1,000 yard receiver since 2005 with Randy Moss.

Raider faithful have every right to be upset at an organization that entertains a carousel at Head Coach and makes a mockery of the NFL Draft. However, Palmer has been a blessing to the Raiders and without him they might not have a won a game in all of 2012 given the lack of talent that surrounds him.

Oakland fans need to direct that energy towards the draft, where the Raiders have the third overall pick and are finally out of the hole that they placed themselves in when dealing for Palmer.
