Kenny Britt Needs To Step Up For Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt has all the tools to be one of the best receivers in the NFL:he’s got the size, speed and athleticism to be a nightmare for opposing defense. He’s shown flashes of being a dominant receiver, but it hasn’t happened yet and if the Titans want to have a dynamic offense, Britt needs to step up both on and off the field.

It’s no secret that Britt has had his share of legal trouble and since he’s been in the league, as he’s had nine incidents with the police. Not all of them have been arrests, but that is an inexcusable number, and he needs to start taking more responsibility for his actions. If Britt wants to become a better player on the field, he needs to clean up his act off of it.

All of this nonsense off of the field is taking away from what Britt can be on the field. Last year, Britt only caught 45 passes for 589 yards and four touchdowns, and even though he was coming off of major knee surgery, those numbers are low. Usually a year after the surgery, a player gets healthier and better as the season goes onm but Britt never settled back in this season. Even if we gave him a pass for the past two seasons, he still hasn’t eclipsed the 800 yard receiving mark in any of his four years and that should not be tolerated by a player with his ability.

I understand the Titans haven’t had the best quarterback situation in his time in Tennessee, but it didn’t stop teammate Nate Washington from having a 1,000 yard season last year. Britt should be putting up big numbers every season, despite his quarterback, because he has the tools to do so.

The Titans need to more from Kenny Britt and the 2013 season will be a make-or-break year for the gifted wide receiver. Not just on the field, but off it as well.
