While the Buffalo Bills don’t have to do what they did in the 2012 off-season by landing prized defensive end Mario Williams, however they need to still make a presence. Otherwise people will not be happy with team president Russ Brandon (pictured above) to say the least. Since the Bills only have six draft picks in this year’s NFL Draft, they have to fill some of their needs via free agency or at least use it as a supplement.
Filling the need at linebacker with someone along the lines of a Philip Wheeler a linebacker from the Oakland Raiders or even a Brandon Siler from the Kansas City Chiefs (or both) to name a few players.
Until last season, the Bills had a reputation of being a notoriously cheap team for the longest time. While that isn’t entirely accurate since other teams are just as infamously frugal for never giving their own talent the huge money contracts as well unless they have to (for example the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger). Also before the salary cap was implemented, the Bills always were amongst the highest spenders between the big three (Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed) not to mention Bruce Smith.
All and all this should be an interesting off-season all around for the Bills and the rest of the league as there are some decent players in this year’s free agency class. Not to mention there is not a clear cut number one overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft as of right now.
