NFL Rumors: Is This The Last Year For New York Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin?
New York Giants corner/safety Terrell Thomas went on NFL AM this morning and had some interesting things to say about head coach Tom Coughlin. Thomas said that he thinks 2013 will be the last ride for his head coach. Here’s what he said:
“But I think he has one more in him. We have a great nucleus of guys, and I don’t think he wants to give that up. That passion is still burning within him. He’s in that facility all day every day; he’s going crazy not being able to coach and watch film. He lives and breathes football. He has everybody in there all day, every day, in the offseason.”
I think if the Giants either win the Super Bowl, or go let’s say 6-10, that Coughlin retires. I think if they make the playoffs and fall just short of being the first team to host a Super Bowl, he may want to give it one last run. Coughlin has been involved with football for 40 years. If they win the Super Bowl this year, he may go down as the best coach in team history.
Coughlin has had nine lives as the Giants head coach. He goes from fired to hero in two seconds in seems. Coughlin deserves to go out on his own terms, and I believe he will. I think Coughlin still has the drive, but let’s see how the team responds to him this year. It’s still interesting that his own player would come out and say this. He has more insight than you or I do.
