The Indianapolis Colts have a lot of the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens in them. They hired their former defensive coordinator in Chuck Pagano to be their head coach. Pagano helped bring in veterans Cory Redding and Tom Zbikowski to help install the new 3-4 defense. Could they raid the Ravens for more players?
With the release of Dwight Freeney, they could use another rush linebacker. How about Paul Kruger? There’s no doubt that he could come in and fill his spot at the rush linebacker spot. Colts fans know what he did to Andrew Luck in their playoff game. Kruger had five hurries, three hits and three sacks of Luck during that playoff game where Luck got hit time after time after time.
Want more proof? Okay, here come the advanced stats. Kruger had the sixth best grade of any 3-4 rush linebacker in the league last year. His pass rushing productivity was the highest at his position. His 55 quarterback pressures led the Ravens linebackers. No other Ravens linebacker had 21. In their four playoff games, he led the Ravens with 20 quarterback pressures.
We all know the Ravens have cap issues. Anquan Boldin may have to have his deal restructured. Joe Flacco is in for one heck of a paycheck after his playoff performance. They are over the cap, and because of that, someone like Kruger may fall through the cracks. The Colts would be wise to continue and get players off of the Raven defense like they did last year. Kruger makes a lot of sense and could help the Colts defense immensely in getting quarterback pressure.
