Reggie McKenzie was hired as the General Manager of the Oakland Raiders to rebuild a team that has been decimated by awful free agent signings and even worse NFL draft classes in years prior. After went without a first round draft pick in last years draft McKenzie might have a few aces up his sleeve regarding the third overall pick this April.

The Raiders haven’t made the playoffs in a decade and the AFC West seems to stretch further and further away from them especially with Peyton Manning now in the mix for at least a few more seasons.

Obviously McKenzie wants to consistently have the kind of drafts that his former team, the Green Bay Packers have had each of the last five seasons. However, inheriting a team with as little talent as the 4-12 Raiders posses his best route may be trading the pick and taking more quantity than quality.

Utah Utes DT Star Lotulelei is the early favorite to get selected third overall as he has the skill set necessary to revamp a defensive line that was among the leagues worst in 2012 with a lowly 25 sacks which is 31st in the NFL.

When you’re in the situation that the Raiders are in it’s hard to go wrong, but if they could swing a deal to bring in more talent for defensive coordinator Jason Traver to develop throughout the years they should.

Darren McFadden is a name that is flying across the NFL Rumor mill as he is entering a contract year and would bring in quite the bargain if indeed McKenzie dealt him–including a numerous amount of draft picks.
