Should the Cleveland Browns Sign WR Steve Breaston?

After another disappointing season, the Cleveland Browns will hopefully enter free agency looking to bring numerous key players on board for the 2013 season. One player they will meet with this week–former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Steve Breaston.

The wideout was released by the Chiefs and has plans to meet with the Browns on Tuesday–so it should be interesting to see how things go between the two sides. Breaston’s numbers may not have been as impressive from the 2012 season, but he’s drawn interest from numerous teams in need of help at wide receiver–including the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Breaston only caught seven passes in 10 games with the Chiefs last year, but he did record 108 catches from 2010-11. Clearly, the potential is certainly there when it comes to putting up solid numbers, but whether or not the Browns would be a good fit for Breaston is a different story.

If anything, Cleveland needs to figure out their situation at quarterback first before they have any chance of figuring out whether or not Breaston would make a good fit. Brandon Weeden showed potential at times for the Browns as a rookie, but he still has a lot to prove before the team can label him as the future of the franchise.

Either way, it should be interesting to see how Tuesday’s meeting goes between the Browns and Breaston considering he’s in need of a new team and Cleveland is in need of help at the wide receiver position.
