Should the New England Patriots Pursue Dwayne Bowe?

The New England Patriots have a busy next couple of weeks ahead as they have plenty of decisions to make when it comes to free agency, especially wide receiver Wes Welker and whether or not they should provide him with a long-term deal. On paper, the Patriots contain one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL, but there’s one player they may want to consider signing if he becomes available through free agency–Dwayne Bowe of the Kansas City Chiefs.

New England will already have one of the strongest offenses on paper, assuming all of their key players remain healthy heading into the 2013 season and adding a player like Bowe would make them even more dangerous. He has proven to be one of the league’s most dangerous wide receivers at times and it’s scary to imagine what type of numbers he would put up with Tom Brady passing him the ball.

The Patriots have been looking for a reliable deep threat for quite some time since losing Randy Moss a few years ago and imagine what an offense with Bowe would look like playing alongside Welker (hopefully), Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

Obviously, the Chiefs will do whatever it takes to convince Bowe to come back, but it would be difficult to turn down an opportunity to play with one of the top teams in the AFC like New England. Even if it does seem like a long shot at this point, don’t be surprised if the Patriots at least attempt to make a move on Bowe if he’s available once free agency starts.
