New England Patriots QB Tom Brady the Real Winner This Off-Season After Contract Extension
Every football fan has been talking about New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady being a team player for agreeing to a three-year extension to help the team save a ton of money for salary cap space over the next two seasons. However, when taking a closer look at the amount of money Brady is going to receive through bonuses–it really was a no brainer for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Not only did the new deal give Brady $30 million in bonuses to keep him around through the 2017 season, but he’s now guaranteed $57 million overall–which any NFL player would take in a heartbeat. So before anyone begins to praise Brady for being a team player for taking a cut with the new extension, keep in mind these types of bonus numbers and it’s a no brainer that anyone would take this deal in a heartbeat.
Of course, Brady being a team player shouldn’t be based off of this new deal considering everything he has done for New England throughout his career as he’s proven to be one of the most competitive players in the league. Brady has always done whatever it takes to help the Patriots be one of the league’s top contenders each year even though he claims this deal was all about the team winning–it’s no secret the bonus money played a big factor in this whole deal. The Patriots have expressed interest to work out a possible deal with Wes Welker and hopefully this new salary cap space will allow them to do so.
