Chris Johnson is Crazy Confident to Think He'll Outrush Adrian Peterson

Chris Johnson is a lot of things, with ‘talented NFL running back’ being one of them. Apparently, he’s also an extremely confident individual as well, because his latest comments are raising eyebrows around the football world.

When asked who would rush for more yards next season – himself or Adrian Peterson? Johnson responded with, “Of course, 2K,” as in CJ2K (a la 2,000 yards rushing in 2009).

Johnson also added that he believes he can break Eric Dickerson‘s all-time rushing record of 2,105 yards.

I’m sure some people are reacting to this with shock, and they can’t believe Johnson would say something like this, but I like where Johnson’s head is at. Clearly, he’s a little out of touch if he thinks he’s in the same category with Peterson right now, but you have to respect his level of confidence.

Players have to think they’re the best, to actually be the best. I don’t ever want to hear a player say that they can’t compete with another player. I like the crazy confidence that athletes like Mr. Johnson display. Is it a bit ridiculous? Of course, but it’s far better than the other way around.

So will Johnson even come close to Peterson in 2013?

I think Johnson will get closer than most expect. He’s coming off a 1,243-yard campaign in 2012, and at times he showed glimpses of the 2009-CJ2K. He’s no doubt got a couple of solid seasons left in him, but a 2,106 record-breaking or AP-like season? I think not.
