Dwayne Bowe has a ton of talent but you always feel like there could be something more there. Andy Reid and company believe that they can harness all that talent as the Kansas City Chiefs have reached a five-year deal with the wideout.
Chiefs didn’t use tag on WR Dwayne Bowe because they didn’t have to. Chiefs and Bowe have reached agreement on a five-year deal.

This last minute deal is big news for the Chiefs. They don’t have to worry about not having a lot of weapons around Alex Smith when he comes in and it should keep the offense at a decent level. The Chiefs do have a lot of talent but they just need to minimize some of the stupid mistakes that they make. This is a move that will certainly help them in the long run.
Bowe would have had a lot of suitors on the free agent market and I doubt the team would have been able to bring him back. By locking him up before the deadline for a franchise tag, they do not have to worry about that. By avoiding the tag, they also avoid making Bowe angry. Not exactly a bad move for them.
We will see if the Chiefs can show some improvement next season. They do have the first pick in the draft and they have a lot of needs. If they can fix some of those issues during the draft, the team may surprise people next year.
