Darrelle Revis Will Continue to Embarrass New York Jets Organization

Darrelle Revis is handling his contract situation entirely wrong, however if the New York Jets don’t do something about it his parade will only get worse. The latest fiasco has Revis on a web-based sports show with Seattle Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson saying it would be “awesome” to play for the San Francisco 49ers.

This is the same cornerback who just this July said “I want to be a Jet for life” during the team’s offseason workouts. Maybe he wants to play for both clubs. I wonder if the NFL would allow it?

All sarcasm aside Revis is blowing an intense amount of smoke the Jets way as he continues to embarrass the organization any chance he gets. If the Jets want to avoid his antics, they need to make a decision on what to do with Revis and execute it. This constant waiting game that John Idzik is angering his fan-base with is something that a first-year general manager can’t afford to do. Had Idzik came out and either denied or confirmed the trade rumors, this would be no dilemma at all. Instead sports media has Revis getting dealt anywhere from San Francisco to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Revis has no right to say what he did to Robinson given the money that the Jets front office has shelled out to the six-year veteran who played in just two games last year. As long as he is under contract as a Jet, Revis has no business making statements about being the final addition to a team primed for a Super Bowl like the 49ers.

The ball is in Idzik’s court, but if he continues to play both hats telling Jets season ticket holders on Tuesday that “We’re very fortunate to have a player like Darrelle Revis on our team”, the mayhem will continue. Idzik needs to cut the malarkey and tell the fans whether Revis will be staying or going this offseason.
