The Baltimore Ravens shocked the football world by making Joe Flacco the league’s highest-paid quarterback this week with a hefty six-year, $120.6 million deal. Now, one of the top Green Bay Packers involves the team working on a deal for their own beloved quarterback–Aaron Rodgers.

Rumors are beginning to heat up about the Packers plans to work out a new deal for Rodgers sooner rather than later–which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone considering the type of career he’s had over the last five seasons. Not only did Rodgers lead Green Bay to a Super Bowl victory during the 2010 season, but he’s thrown for 8,938 yards and 84 touchdowns over the last two seasons alone.

With these types of numbers–it’s no surprise to hear the Packers looking to lock up a new deal now instead of holding off.

Rodgers is scheduled to make $9.25 million next season and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Green Bay considered giving him a similar deal to the one Flacco received from the Ravens. If anything, Rodgers is a better quarterback than Flacco from a statistics standpoint–so it’s safe to say he deserves to paid around the same as him.

Green Bay knew they were taking a huge risk when they decided to move on from Brett Favre at quarterback and so far–it’s certainly paid off for the organization. Rodgers has proven he’s worth the money over the years and it’s good to see the Packers willing to pay him the money he deserves.
