One of the hottest Miami Dolphins rumors over the last couple of weeks has been all of the talk surrounding Mike Wallace joining the team for the 2013 season as the Pittsburgh Steelers have made it clear they won’t provide the wide receiver with the hefty contract he’s fought so hard for. With free agency set to get officially under way on Tuesday, all signs to Wallace and the Dolphins being a “done deal.”
With all of the money they had open to spend in free agency, Miami has seemed like the top destination for Wallace throughout the offseason as they’ve been wanting to add a big-name wide receiver for Ryan Tannehill–even if they did just re-sign Brian Hartline to a hefty new deal. Wallace has proven to be one of the fastest and most dangerous wide receivers over the last three years as he’s caught 196 passes for 3,286 yards to go along with 26 touchdowns, but whether or not he would be as effective with Tannehill over Ben Roethlisberger is debatable.
Either way, this move shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering Wallace has been fighting for a long-term deal since last season and the Dolphins seem willing to pay him top dollar. Miami was expected to make numerous key moves during the offseason and with all of the signs from the last couple of weeks–it looks like Wallace could be suiting up with the Dolphins for the 2013 season now that free agency is set to get underway.
