Since voiding the final year of his contract with the St. Louis Rams, Steven Jackson has been linked to numerous teams considering he’s one of the most consistent running backs in free agency. Now, it appears one of the top Green Bay Packers rumors on the first day of free agency involves the team being the favorites to land the star running back for the 2013 season.
If they could manage to come to an agreement with Jackson at the right price, it would almost be a no brainer for a team like the Packers considering how consistent he’s been throughout his career with the Rams. The fact that Jackson has recorded at least 1,000 rushing yards in each of the last eight seasons.
For a team known for having one of the league’s top passing units, there’s no question Jackson wold make a great addition to the Packers for the 2013 season–especially when considering all of the trouble they’ve had over the years with having a consistent No. 1 running back. Jackson will most likely take his time when it comes to speaking with teams to see what they have to offer, but if Green Bay were smart–they should strongly consider bringing him on board for the 2013 season.
Jackson appears to still have a few good years left in him and the Packers are expected to be one of the top teams in the NFC once again–so this may end up being a perfect fit for both parties.
