There have been plenty of Pittsburgh Steelers rumors swirling this offseason when it comes to certain players that could join the team for the 2013 season–especially with all of the work they’ve had to do to make sure they get under the salary cap. One name that may be on the team’s radar–Steven Jackson.
After voiding the final year of his contract with the St. Louis Rams, Jackson is set to hit the open market to see what other teams have to offer and if he’s looking for a team that could turn into a serious contender–the Steelers may be a solid option for the veteran running back. Pittsburgh could certainly use some help in the ground game and with the type of consistency he’s displayed throughout his career–it would be wise for the Steelers to at least consider bringing him on board for the 2013 season.
His numbers may not be as impressive as some of the league’s other top running backs like Adrian Peterson or Arian Foster, but it’s difficult to ignore the fact that Jackson has recorded at least 1,000 rushing yards in each of the last eight seasons. Jackson may only have a few good years left in him, but there’s no reason why he wouldn’t make a great addition for the Steelers during the 2013 season at running back.
Pittsburgh will need all of the help they can get next year to compete in the AFC North–so it should be interesting to see if they do express any interest towards Jackson.
