Should the Cincinnati Bengals Sign Beanie Wells?
The Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the biggest surprises over the last two seasons as Andy Dalton and A.J. Green have helped the team reach the playoffs in each of their first two years. Now, expectations will be even higher heading into the 2013 season and with plenty of areas in need of improvement–the team may want to consider bringing on board an extra running back like like Beanie Wells next year.
Cincinnati is listed as one of the teams expressing interest in bringing Wells on next season and with a No. 1 running back like BenJarvus Green-Ellis already on board–this could give the Bengals a solid duo at running back if Wells would be able to stay healthy. Wells is coming off a disappointing 2012 season in which he only appeared in eight games and rushed for 234 yards with five touchdowns, but there was a reason why the Arizona Cardinals were willing to spend a first-round pick on him back in 2009.
If Cincinnati can figure out a way to help him live up to his true potential–this could end up being a huge steal heading into next season.
The Bengals already have a solid running back in Green-Ellis and the addition of Wells could make them even better in the ground game–which could always use improvement after last year. Cincinnati has plenty of expectations to live up to if they’re going to make a run at the AFC North and all signs point to them adding a running back during free agency–so keep an eye on whether or not they go after Wells.
