Should the Washington Redskins Go For Aqib Talib?

(Robert Mayer/USA Today Sports)

Despite winning the NFC East title last season, the Washington Redskins realize there’s still plenty of areas that need improvement this offseason–especially when it comes to the defense. The Redskins ranked near the bottom of the league last year when it came to stopping the pass and apparently–they hope to land a cornerback that many considered to be one of the top defenders in the league a few years ago.

Washington has expressed interest in landing cornerback Aqib Talib this offseason if he becomes available, but that may be easier said than done considering other teams will be interested to sign him as well. The New England Patriots have already made it clear they would like to bring Talib back for another season considering they don’t have the best passing defense as well.

The Patriots are expected to do whatever it takes to get a deal done before the start of free agency on Tuesday, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Talib decided to hear what other teams had to offer him for the 2013 season as well. There are plenty of teams that will most likely be willing to spend top dollar on a player like Talib–so the Redskins may need to open their wallets if they really want to land him.

Free agency is set to begin on Tuesday–so it should be interesting to see if Washington will have the opportunity to go after Talib and help improve their defense heading into the 2013 season.
