Green Bay Packers Rumors: Greg Jennings Offered a Contract, Could Stay With Team
There is news this morning around the NFL that the Green Bay Packers have offered their Pro Bowl wideout Greg Jennings a contract that could be worth up to $10 million per year. To many fans and experts, this is somewhat surprising as it appeared the Packers may have been set to let him go. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is known for making any of his wide receivers relevant, so it wouldn’t necessarily be the end of the world.
The big surprise here is that there are rumors about this contract having been offered quite a while ago. Jennings may have just decided to test the open market instead of agreeing to the terms.
This off-season has already been interesting for the Packers as they decided to part ways with stud defensive back Charles Woodson. Personally, I know a few Green Bay fans who are skeptical of the move, noting that it would feel very odd to see him suit up in a uniform other than the green and gold. Letting Jennings go may have been a breaking point for Green Bay fans, so it makes sense that they would try and keep him.
Rumors have also surfaced about the Minnesota Vikings being a great fit for Jennings as well. Whether or not they have a legitimate interest in the Pro Bowler remains to be seen. What they do know is that after letting their exciting playmaker in Percy Harvin head to the Seattle Seahawks, they have a giant void to fill at the position.
It appears to be all up to the man himself at this point. I’m sure fans everywhere cannot wait to see where the veteran wide receiver ends up.
