Wes Welker Makes Denver Broncos Super Bowl Favorites

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

I don’t care what Vegas says, the Denver Broncos are the Super Bowl favorites heading into 2013.

Wes Welker is now a Bronco in the same receiver corp with Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. Oh yeah, and Peyton Manning will be throwing them the ball. Let that sink in for a moment…

This just has spite written all over it. What better way for Welker to stick it to the New England Patriots than to sign with the Broncos? It’s the only place he could go without downgrading at quarterback, and it’s a QB who just happens to be Tom Brady’s arch rival.

The Patriots weren’t showing Welker enough love, and eventually he’d had enough. He couldn’t have picked a better team to sign with than the Broncos, and that’s why this is fantastic. It might not be fantastic if you’re a fan of say, any other team in AFC, but just for sheer entertainment, I like it.

Denver will likely run through their competition en route to another No. 1 seed in 2013, and it’s really only going to be a matter of getting it done in the playoffs.

For those saying, how does Welker fit in with Decker and everyone else on the roster in Denver? Stop it. Peyton Manning is running the show, and he’ll find a way to make it work. I’ll hold off on calling this the greatest passing attack of all-time until I see them on the field, but these Broncos could rival the ‘Greatest Show on Turf.’

New England deserves this for disrespecting Welker. Adding Danny Amendola is great for them, but all they did was replace Wes Welker. The Broncos added a missing piece to their puzzle, and are now the clear favorites to win Super Bowl XLVIII.
