The Dallas Cowboys have been hampered by the salary cap ever since the season ended and it hasn’t allowed the team to do much maneuvering in free agency. They have been able to keep some core players such as Phil Costa and Anthony Spencer but the team is preparing to move on from other key free agents.
One of the players the Cowboys have apparently already decided to move on from is cornerback Mike Jenkins. Jenkins hasn’t signed with anyone yet, nor have the Cowboys made any real attempt to re-sign him but fellow cornerback Sterling Moore may have let the cat out of the bag when he tweeted this picture yesterday:

The number 21 has been worn by Jenkins for the past four seasons with the Cowboys so if a picture is worth a thousand words, it seems pretty clear that Jenkins’ time in Dallas is up. I’m not crazy about the lack interest in the Cowboys bringing Jenkins back but it appears as though the team will move on and Jenkins is happy to do so.
There was a disconnect between Jenkins and the team last offseason when Dallas signed Brandon Carr in free agency and then drafted Morris Claiborne, which made Jenkins unhappy. Jenkins angered the Cowboys by rehabbing his shoulder away from the team facility and wasn’t ready to begin the season in 2012. At this point it seems like both parties have decided it’s better to head into different directions.
Nothing is confirmed at this point but it’s pretty obvious that Mike Jenkins career as a member of the Dallas Cowboys are over.
