Now that Kevin Kolb is out of the picture, there are plenty of Arizona Cardinals rumors swirling about whether or not the team will go after a quarterback this offseason. As of now, all signs point to Drew Stanton taking over the starting job, but it appears the Cardinals may have their eye set on another quarterback if he manages to become available–Carson Palmer.
There’s been talk about the possibility of the Oakland Raiders parting ways with their quarterback due to a hefty salary for the 2013 season and if he does become available–don’t be surprises if the Cardinals make a move to land him. If last season is any indication, Arizona is clearly in need of desperate help at the quarterback and he may not be one of the top quarterbacks in the league–but Palmer may be an upgrade over any of the current quarterbacks on the team’s roster.
Despite decent numbers last season, the argument can be made that most of Palmer’s numbers from last season came during garbage time and it’s no secret he’s nowhere close to his glory days. Plus, even if the Cardinals ended up selecting a quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft, Palmer would make a great mentor considering how experienced he is.
Either way, it will be interesting to see whether or not the Cardinals make a push for Palmer if he does end up getting released by the Raiders. As of now, all signs point to Palmer eventually it getting released since he refuses to take a pay cut–which means Arizona may be making a run at the quarterback.
