Joe Morgan is one of the youngest and most exciting wide receivers in the league, but he won’t remain under-the-radar much longer. I think 2013 could be a breakout year for Morgan as the New Orleans Saints are looking to replenish at the wideout position. Sure, Drew Brees has plenty of targets to his leisure, but I believe that Morgan will make his mark this year.

Last season was pretty much a wash for a maligned Saints team that was without a head coach for the entire season and switched interim coaches halfway through the year. With Sean Payton back in the fold, the offense will have much more consistency in 2013 which is only going to benefit the maturation of Morgan.

It’s hard to believe that an undrafted free agent from Walsh University could be the future at wide receiver, however the soon-to-be 25-year-old could soon become Brees’ new favorite target in a matter of months. Getting Morgan involved last season seemed to help this offense as Morgan hauled in only 10 passes in 2012, but three of those passes were for touchdowns. Even more impressive is that Morgan racked up 379 yards despite meager targets.

Morgan averaged nearly 38 yards a catch last season, however I think that number will rise as he gets more involved into the Saints offense. Marques Colston has been the man for the Saints for quite some time, but Brees will soon have to find other targets and I think Morgan is in a great position to breakout in 2013.

As long as the Atlanta Falcons are in the NFC South the Saints won’t rival them for best wide receivers, but Morgan will put his stamp on the NFL this season.
