Bernard Pollard Will Bring Experience To Tennessee Titans’ Secondary

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

It was a long season for the Tennessee Titans in 2012, finishing with a 6-10 record. The Titans won two of their last three games though which should give the team some momentum going into the 2013 season. Adding safety Bernard Pollard in free agency will be able to help Tennessee rebound from being 26th in the NFL this past season in opposition passing yards.

Pollard was part of the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens last season, recording 71 tackles and two sacks. It is going to be the fourth stop in Pollard’s career but at age 29 should be a fruitful next destination. Pollard will have a chip on his shoulder without any doubt I think since Baltimore cut him in the offseason which allowed for his next move. There is a good amount of talent on the Tennessee roster and if the team can make a few more moves in the offseason and through the draft, the Pollard signing may allow the team to get to the .500 mark in 2013.

I really like what Pollard can do in the secondary and he will be a stabilizing force back there for this Titans team. There is a ton of competition in the AFC South with two great teams at the top of the division, but Tennessee may be able to make life hard on those teams and others next year. It may not have been the flashiest move that was made in free agency this year, but the Titans are going to be better because of Pollard’s arrival.
