Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors: Team Ready to Sign Ahmad Bradshaw?
Ahmad Bradshaw is arguably the best free agent running back left on the market. After being released by the New York Giants, Bradshaw’s future became uncertain, but most thought he would wind up back in the Big Apple. The New York Jets were also reportedly interested in the running back, but now it appears a new team is in the mix.
According to reports, Bradshaw is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The free agent should fly into the Steel City on Wednesday, and then take a physical on Thursday.
If a physical is involved, that would typically be a formality before a team signs a player, but in Bradshaw’s case, it could just be standard procedure. Any team that signs him is taking a pretty big risk, as he no doubt has an injury-filled past. Only once in his career has he played in all 16 games.
Still, with Pittsburgh flying him in and a physical scheduled, this looks like the probable landing spot for Bradshaw. If he can pass the physical, the team should act fast and bring him on board.
The Steelers are a team in desperate need of play-makers on offense, and Bradshaw would provide them with one out of the backfield. He’s still only 27, and when at full capacity, he could easily rush for 1,000 yards and six touchdowns in the AFC next season.
Having a reliable back for Ben Roethlisberger to hand off to, would be a huge shot in the arm for a team in need of one.
