While the Indianapolis Colts may be looking to add another weapon at the wide receiver position via free agency, they could very well be developing the prodigy to Reggie Wayne at the same time.
T.Y. Hilton is going to be the next great receiver in the Colts impressive history of talent at the position.
With Marvin Harrison in the Colts’ ring of honor and more than likely on his way into the hall of fame and Reggie Wayne finishing his career with the blue and white, it is perfect timing for Hilton to step into the role that the Colts will need him to play over the next 10-12 years.
Hilton caught 50 passes for 861 yards last season racking up seven touchdowns. The most encouraging stat was his 91 targets from Andrew Luck. That can’t be categorized into the column of inconsistency or drop issues because of the make-up of the Colts roster last season.
Everything was so new last year and there were so many pieces that had to fall into place for Indianapolis to do what they did. The fact that he and Luck were on the same page for the stats they compiled together is satisfactory enough, and now 2013 looks like a very promising year.
Hilton and Luck will build off of the foundation they laid last season and with a new playbook dedicated to the west coast offense, there will be plenty of opportunities for both of them to leave their mark on the Indianapolis Colts’ record books, much like Peyton Manning did with Harrison.
T.Y. Hilton will emerge next season as the complimentary piece to Andrew Luck as he will have a double-digit touchdown year with well over 1,000 yards receiving.
