Seattle Seahawks All Pro cornerback Richard Sherman turns 25 today. Sherman will probably celebrate in some way, but fans of the Seahawks have reason to celebrate their good fortune because they have a young superstar locked under team control for two more seasons at minimal cost.
There will come a time for the organization to show Sherman the money. That’s the way it works. Superstars deserve to be paid like superstars and his day will come.
The Seahawks have the face of their franchise in quarterback Russell Wilson. They have their heart and soul in running back Marshawn Lynch. They have men in the trenches on both sides of the ball like Brandon Mebane and Max Unger to help the playmakers make plays. They have a core of great people and teammates who will do anything to win, such as Earl Thomas.
In addition to being a great player, Richard Sherman gives the Seahawks an attitude and swagger. He can talk the talk because he can walk the walk. He’s not afraid to tell you something and then back it up with his play on the field. That’s how Sherman rolls and it’s been working to the tune of being named an All Pro in just his second season in the NFL.
One of the best things about Sherman is that he seems to be a great teammate. Some players have gained negative attention and have caused their team problems through the years with their antics, but there are no indications that this is going to be a problem for Sherman in Seattle.
While it may be Sherman’s birthday today, fans of the Seahawks will definitely be the ones celebrating — thanks to having number 25 on their side.
