Domenik Hixon Would Be Perfect Addition To Carolina Panthers

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers are a team that has depended a too little much in recent years on Steve Smith. The Panthers are scheduled to have wide receiver Domenik Hixon in for a visit on Monday, and I think they would be smart to just sign Hixon while he is in town. He would be the perfect choice to stick into a slot receiver spot.

Hixon had 39 catches last season for 567 yards and two touchdowns with the New York Giants. He can return kicks as well, and that makes him even more valuable in my opinion. I could even see the Panthers having Hixon as their other starting wide receiver on the opposite of Smith to finally take some of the pressure of him. It would be a smart choice by the Panthers, who just signed another member of the Giants last week in Chase Blackburn. What team wouldn’t want to have two recent Super Bowl champions on their roster?

Carolina began to make life difficult on their opponents at the end of last season, winning five of their last six games including their last four in a row. Cam Newton is proving that he can be an elite quarterback in the NFL and giving him even more options only helps him mature even more. Hixon would be a very smart signing for the Panthers to make especially if the team wants to spread it out more in 2013. Hixon has had other interest, but the Carolina fit looks to be the best one that he is going to get this offseason.
