The New York Giants are busy trying to add pieces to their team to give them some additional depth. Not only did they bring in Mike Patterson and Tim Hightower, like previously talked about on this site, they brought in Anthony Armstrong, Eric Norwood and Jameson Konz. There were rumors of Pat White coming in for a visit but it looks like he’ll be signing elsewhere and won’t be coming in.

Armstrong is a speedy wide receiver, that if signed, could provide the team some depth at the position and compete for that fourth or fifth receiver spot. Armstrong was with the rival Washington Redskins in 2010, catching 44 balls for 871 yards and three touchdowns. Last year, he had three catches for 12 yards for the Miami Dolphins.

Norwood was out of football last year after spending two years along the Carolina Panthers defensive front. He has one career sack and no career starts. Konz has played in one career game at tight end and appears to be switching over to linebacker.

Are these big, sexy signings? No. Could any or all of these guys not even be signed or make the team? Certainly. However, when you are up against the cap, you have to do what you can to get creative in the free agent market. For the Giants, it may be one of these guys who come in and surprise during training camp. Then again, it’s possible they won’t even make the squad. The point is that you never know.
