Should the Cincinnati Bengals Sign Felix Jones?
There’s been plenty of talk this offseason about the Cincinnati Bengals adding another running back to compliment BenJarvus Green-Ellis in the backfield. While they haven’t had much luck yet, it appears they may be showing interest in one player–former Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones.
The Bengals gave Jones a workout this week as they look to continue adding weapons as they prepare for the 2013 season with the intention of hopefully making the playoffs for the third year in a row. Cincinnati’s ground game was average during the 2012 season with Green-Ellis leading the way, but there’s no question they could use some additional help in the backfield.
Jones may not be their best option–but it shouldn’t be a surprise to see the Bengals expressing some interest in the former first-round pick.
Obviously, Jones never lived up to his true potential during his tenure with the Cowboys for numerous reasons and Cincinnati may hope a fresh start could be the answer to his problems. Imagine if the Bengals found a way to get Jones to live up to his true potential in 2013 playing alongside Green-Ellis and all of a sudden–Cincinnati would have a solid one-two punch at running back.
Of course, just because Jones received a workout doesn’t mean anything is guaranteed just yet. For all we know, Cincinnati could focus on selecting a running back in the upcoming draft instead–so it will be interesting to see whether or not Jones receives an offer.
