On Tuesday, wide receiver Dez Bryant said he’s motivated and working hard this offseason.
Bryant is motivated because he wants to prove the abundance of Dallas Cowboys haters across America wrong.
“I feel like the greatest thing about being on the Cowboys [is] people love to hate the Cowboys,” Bryant said. “That makes you want to work 10 times harder. They put the big target on us or whatever, and speaking for myself, it doesn’t bother me.”
The comment he made shows that it does bother him, but he’s ready to give the haters an actual reason to hate.
I’ll be the first to say, I’m glad he made those comments. I’m glad Bryant has come out and said these things because it shows he understands what’s at stake. It shows that he doesn’t think that 2012 was a fluke year for him, and above all it shows he’s ready to take that next step.
Those comments, however, will be used to fuel the haters if the Cowboys fall short again. If Bryant doesn’t perform or has problems off the field again, it is those comments that the media are going to use against him and the Cowboys. For Bryant’s sake I hope he comes out and shuts all the critics and naysayers up, as would most Cowboys fans.
So, yes Dez go out there and play your heart out. Go out there and become one of the best. Give the haters a genuine reason to hate the Cowboys; bring home that Lombardi Trophy.
