One of the hottest topics this offseason has been whether or not the New York Jets will trade Darrelle Revis considering how many times he’s made it clear that he’s unhappy with the organization. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of a few teams that have expressed interest in possibly landing Revis for the 2013 season and if they’re willing to offer their first-round pick in this year’s draft–it should be a decision they don’t even have to think twice about.
It’s rare for any team to be willing to give up their first-round pick in the draft to acquire a player, but the Buccaneers are making it clear how much they want to land Revis and the argument can be made the Jets may not receive a better offer from other teams. There’s plenty of options New York could go with at No. 13 if they did end up acquiring this pick from Tampa Bay and it would give them an advantage heading into the 2013 season by having two first-round picks.
The fact that New York and Revis are in this situation to begin with is nothing but ridiculous–so it’s clear the best option at this point would be to have both parties just part ways at this point. As mentioned before, the Jets need to realize they’re not going to receive a better offer than the No. 13 pick to get Revis out of their hands–so they need to make it happen as quickly as possible.
