With the way the offseason has gone for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals find themselves in the perfect position to make a run at the AFC North in 2013 and why wouldn’t they be after reaching the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. Unfortunately, this team still has a few areas in need of improvement heading into next year, but there’s one player that would certainly be a boost to their defense–former Steelers linebacker James Harrison.
While there hasn’t been any signs of a signing yet, it appears the Bengals were impressed with what they saw by Harrison this week and it should be interesting to see if anything plays out over the next couple of days. Cincinnati has been looking around to add another linebacker for quite some time now and even though things didn’t work out for him in Pittsburgh–Harrison would be a great addition to a defense that ranked near the top of the league in 2012.
Plus, there’s always the benefit of stealing a player from one of your most hated division rivals–so it’s safe to say Cincinnati would enjoy that a little bit as well. Harrison has proven to be an effective linebacker throughout his career and still appears to have a few good years left in him–which is why this may be a beneficial move for the Bengals if they can acquire him at a fair price.
