No Reason to Worry Over Green Bay Packers Not Giving Aaron Rodgers a Contract Yet

(Cary Edmondson/USA Today Sports)

Now that Clay Matthews if officially under contract for the long run, it seems like only a matter of time before the Green Bay Packers reward quarterback Aaron Rodgers with a hefty deal of his own. Clearly, Rodgers has earned every penny of whatever new deal the Packers do end up giving him, and while fans are concerned about how a deal hasn’t happened yet between the two sides–there really is no reason to be worrying just yet.

Green Bay realizes how valuable Rodgers is at quarterback considering he’s already led them to a Super Bowl win and his numbers each year are on a completely different level than most of the top quarterbacks in the league. Not only has Rodgers crossed the 4,000-yard passing mark in four of the last five seasons, but over the last two seasons he’s managed to throw for 84 touchdowns.

In other words–there’s a reason why Rodgers is considered an MVP candidate each season.

As soon as the Baltimore Ravens gave Joe Flacco a hefty contract, everybody knew it was only a matter of time before the Packers did the same for Rodgers. In fact, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Green Bay ended up giving Rodgers an even bigger contract since his numbers are much better than Flacco’s.

There’s no reason to be concerned over Rodgers not receiving a deal just yet from the Packers. Give it a few more weeks and both sides will most likely reach a deal by then–so all of the worrying about Rodgers can end for now.
