The rumors about Kansas City Chiefs‘ tackle Branden Albert being traded to the Miami Dolphins have been swirling for the last month or so, but it is beginning to look like this could become a reality prior to the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Chiefs have the first pick in the draft and according to CBS Sports, they are committing to take Luke Joeckel, an offensive tackle out of Texas A & M.  This makes Albert expendable, and they are looking to get a deal done quickly.

The Chiefs are reportedly seeking a second round pick as compensation and are rumored to be allowing Miami to begin talks with Albert, something that Kansas City head coach Andy Reid has denied. At this point, it is hard to figure out what is true, as teams try to disguise their draft day intents. The Dolphins have two picks in the second round, and they are dedicated to upgrading their offensive line, making this a near perfect fit.

Albert lives in Miami and will be brought in for a physical in the next couple of days. He was franchised by the Chiefs at the start of free agency and had gone on record with his displeasure about the possibility of moving to right tackle.

For the Dolphins, signing Albert helps to solve the problem created when they lost perennial Pro Bowler Jake Long to the St. Louis Rams in free agency. Albert would fit into the Dolphins line on the left side, moving sophomore Jonathan Martin back to the right side of the line.

The move would give general manager Jeff Ireland and head coach Joe Philbin even more freedom when the draft starts on April 25th. The Dolphins have 11 picks, and after making a splash in free agency, expectations are high for Miami in 2013. Bringing in Albert could go a long way towards achieving their goals in the coming year.
