Ever since he accepted the head coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs during the offseason, everybody couldn’t wait to see when the 2013 NFL schedule was released to see when Andy Reid would make his return to the City of Brotherly Love to face the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, it looks like the highly anticipated matchup will take place in Week 3–so let the countdown begin.

After back-to-back disappointing seasons in which the Eagles were expected to be strong contenders, the organization decided to move on from their former head coach during the offseason and replace him with Chip Kelly instead for the 2013 season. Despite all of the success throughout his 14-year career in Philadelphia that consisted of five NFC Championship game appearances and even a Super Bowl appearance, Reid received plenty of criticism over the years for his lack of discipline.

As the new head coach for the Chiefs, Reid looks to turn things around in 2013 and help Kansas City get back on the map next season.

There’s certainly plenty of potential for the Chiefs next season considering all of the offseason moves they’ve made and knowing Philadelphia fans–it will certainly be interesting to see how fans respond to his return in Week 3. Either way, this will certainly be an interesting matchup for the beginning of the season as both teams look to bounce back early on in the year following disappointing seasons in 2012.

It still may be a few months away, but it’s difficult not to get excited for this early matchup in the beginning of the season.
