Washington Redskins 2013 Schedule Predictions and Preview

Washington Redskins 2013 Schedule Predictions and Preview
Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins' 2013 schedule is tough to get a grasp on, not only factoring the recovery of their starting quarterback's knee but also shifting from a last-place schedule to a first-place one, based on previous year's divisions standings.

Then there's also that NFL Draft thing, training camp and....I'm having go at it anyways! Football season is just too far away not to speculate — and speculate I will.

At first glance, road matchups at Lambeau Field Week 2, at Mile High Week 8, at the Georgia Dome Week 15 and at the Meadowlands Week 17 appear to present the biggest challenges for the 'Skins, along with a home tilt against the defending NFC champs Week 12. The only apparent "should win" contest that we can even discern by pencil-it-in-April standards — which of course is especially tough in the parity-driven NFL — is at the Black Hole Week 4.

After ending the 2012 regular season with a primetime battle for the NFC East title, the Redskins are slated for a evening national television audience on Monday night Week 1, Sunday night Week 6, Thursday night Week 10, Monday night Week 12 and Sunday Night Week 13.

Week 1: Philadelphia Eagles

Week 1: Philadelphia Eagles
Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

A filthy Eagles pass rush featuring Trent Cole and Brandon Graham gives (perhaps Kirk Cousins?) fits as Philly steals a close one.

Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers

Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers

I imagine Aaron Rodgers and Co. are still furious after that playoff loss. They are also far healthier; Pack win big.

Week 3: Detroit Lions

Week 3: Detroit Lions

Hopefully, for the sake of both 'Skins fans and the league, Robert Griffin III is rounding back into form by now. Washington scores its first win in a shootout.

Week 4: @ Oakland Raiders

Week 4: @ Oakland Raiders

'Skins make it two straight in drubbing a team in complete rebuilding.

Bye

Bye
Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

Redskins ride high into the bye at 2-2, though probably a bit earlier than they'd like.

Week 6: @ Dallas Cowboys

Week 6: @ Dallas Cowboys
Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

I think throwing themselves behind Tony Romo this offseason was a good move by the Cowboys, and it pays dividends early in 2013. Dallas wins narrowly at home.

Week 7: Chicago Bears

Week 7: Chicago Bears
Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Jay Cutler and the Bears have started red-hot over the first half of the past two seasons, and I see that trend continuing in 2013 as they edge the Redskins.

Week 8: @ Denver Broncos

Week 8: @ Denver Broncos
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

A duel between Peyton Manning and RG3. Need I say more? But it may be Von Miller ripping through the weak right side of Washington's offensive line that makes the difference for Denver.

Week 9: San Diego Chargers

Week 9: San Diego Chargers
Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Redskins relish facing a team with its own offensive tackle issues — or perhaps highly drafted, yet green rookies — as Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo rip through the Chargers backfield to snap a three-game losing streak.

Week 10: @ Minnesota Vikings

Week 10: @ Minnesota Vikings
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

RG3 comes up with more late-game heroics against the Vikings. DeAngelo Hall enjoys not having to cover Percy Harvin out of the slot. 'Skins win.

Week 11: @ Philadelphia Eagles

Week 11: @ Philadelphia Eagles
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Redskins enjoy the benefit of a fully recovered Griffin at quarterback, exacting revenge in the rematch.

Week 12: San Francisco 49ers

Week 12: San Francisco 49ers
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

There's a reason San Fran is the Vegas favorite to repeat as NFC champs. Redskins take a tough loss at home to drop to 5-6.

Week 13: New York Giants

Week 13: New York Giants
Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Washington has played the Giants extremely tough the past two years, taking three of four with the infamous Victor Cruz game being the lone blemish. The Redskins take another one from Big Blue here.

Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs

Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Washington emerges above .500 for the first time in 2013, building an early lead then stifling an Alex Smith comeback attempt.

Week 15: @ Atlanta Falcons

Week 15: @ Atlanta Falcons
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins seek vengeance from last season's home loss to Atlanta that saw Griffin get knocked out, but find none of it in the Georgia Dome.

Week 16: Dallas Cowboys

Week 16: Dallas Cowboys
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Washington keeps its playoff hopes alive by playing like it did down the stretch in 2012, improving to 8-7 while hampering their archrival's playoff push.

Week 17: @ New York Giants

Week 17: @ New York Giants
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The 2012 season was a strange one for Eli Manning, who followed up a year of rapid improvement by struggling down the stretch. Here's guessing that isn't the case in 2013, as the Giants survive Washington at home in a Week 17 thriller to decide a playoff spot.
