2013 NFL Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers Apparently Interested in Drafting a QB

With the 2013 NFL Draft just a few days away, there’s plenty of questions surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers and what they may use their first-round pick on. Normally, this team is always considered one of the best in the AFC heading into the regular season, but there’s no telling what to expect in 2013 with all of the adjustments they’ve made to the team–especially when it comes to Mike Wallace joining the Miami Dolphins.

Still, there’s no reason why the Steelers shouldn’t be top contenders once again next season and even though Ben Roethlisberger is their franchise quarterback–it appears they may be thinking about using this year’s draft to potentially find their next quarterback once No. 7 decides to call it a career.

When looking at this year’s draft class, there are certainly plenty of great quarterbacks with potential to emerge into franchise players and it will be interesting to see what happens once Pittsburgh is on the clock in the first round. While Geno Smith and Matt Barkley will most likely be off the board by the time the Steelers are up, there are other quarterbacks such as EJ Manuel or Tyler Bray that may be available.

If this happens to be the case–dont’ be surprised if the Steelers take a chance.

Obviously, the quarterback position hasn’t been an issue for quite some time, but at least the team is being smart when it comes to realizing Roethlisberger’s career will eventually have to come to an end. The draft is finally here–so it will be interesting to see what the Steelers end up doing on Thursday.
