Seattle Seahawks’ Eccentric Marshawn Lynch Turns 27 Today
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch turns 27-years old today. The power back is known for his vicious running style and his eccentric personality of which includes his eating Skittles after scoring touchdowns. He is loved and adored by the 12th Man.
Things weren’t always so rosy for Lynch in the NFL. He was was a former first round pick of the Buffalo Bills who fell out of favor with the organization after numerous off-field incidents and was traded to the Seahawks for only a fourth-round pick in 2011 and a fifth-round choice in 2012. In Seattle, Lynch has been a great teammate and franchise running back that was rewarded last off-season with a four-year contract worth $31 million. Lynch is a throwback football player who would rather instigate contact than avoid it.
Lynch is a colorful personality and it makes sense that he shared a birthday yesterday with Jack Nicholson who once starred in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” This isn’t a knock on Lynch, but rather an admiration for the back he is and the teammate he is to his fellow Seahawks by helping to keep the team loose with his behavior but serving as a role model by his beastlike style of play.
However Lynch celebrates his birthday, he was one-upped by his teammate Kam Chancellor, who signed a four-year extension for $28 million earlier in the afternoon. He received the same type of commitment from the Seahawks that Lynch himself received last off-season. Either way you look at it, it was a good day for Chancellor, Lynch and the 12th Man.
